We all know nursing school requires tough decision-making skills. Triage is life, right? But today, we are taking a break from the serious stuff to ask the truly difficult questions.

It’s time to choose your struggle. Read the scenarios below and tell us where you stand in the comments!

Round 1: The Clinical Nightmare

The Scenario: It’s a Monday morning at LUTH, and the ward is chaotic. You have to pick your poison.

  • Option A: A 12-hour shift where you never get to sit down, not even once. Your feet are on fire, but the patients are generally nice.
  • Option B: A shorter 6-hour shift, BUT you are paired with the strictest Matron in the hospital who watches your every move and quizzes you on drug dosages every 10 minutes.

Which one are you picking?

Round 2: The Academic Sacrifice

The Scenario: It’s exam week at the College of Medicine. The pressure is on.

  • Option A: Re-write your entire Nursing Care Plan (NCP) by hand because you spilled coffee on the original 30 minutes before submission.
  • Option B: Face an unplanned, surprise Viva (Oral Exam) with the HOD on a topic you only skimmed through.

Can you handle the anxiety?

Round 3: The Social Life Struggle

The Scenario: Your personal life is clashing with your professional life.

  • Option A: Miss the biggest NUNSA Dinner/Party of the year because you are on night duty.
  • Option B: Attend the party, but you have an 8:00 AM ward presentation the next morning (and you will be hungover/tired).

Round 4: The Specialty Dilemma

The Scenario: You have to choose a permanent specialty for the rest of your career.

  • Option A: Paediatrics: Dealing with crying babies and anxious mothers, but the patients are cute.
  • Option B: Geriatrics: Dealing with grumpy elderly patients who refuse medication, but they have great life stories.
